U.S. Currency Redesign
Coins are becoming a thing of the past, as many people don’t like carrying change in their pockets/wallets. How do we solve this problem? By turning coins into paper bills. There needs to be a distinct way to decipher change from dollars quickly and should also keep size/shape in mind. I chose to keep the size of the new paper coins the same as a dollar bill so they’ll fit in wallets easily. Furthermore, I used distinct colors for each – orange for coins, green for dollars. The vertical orientation allows for easy use in vending machines as well as cash register drawers.
Each paper bill also has a security feature on the back as well as a national monument. I chose to keep the corresponding president for both amounts – JFK for the fifty-cent bill and Ulysses S. Grant for the fifty dollar bill.
